Wi-Fi 6 is ready to go
Marking the beginning of the Wi-Fi 6 era, the’ Wi-Fi Alliance’, starts its official Wi-Fi 6 certification program today onwards. The ‘Wi-Fi Alliance’ is a non-profit organization made up of combining many tech giants like Apple,Samsung and Huawei to standardizes Wi-Fi technology and certifies Wi-Fi. This latest Wi-Fi 6 improves the current Wi-Fi speed to 9.6 Gbps from 3.5 Gbps theoretically.
Wi-Fi 6 relys on two key technologies called MU-MIMO and OFDMA. MU-MIMO, which stands for “Multiple User, Multiple Input, Multiple Output,” allows the network device to communicate with multiple devices at a time, rather than broadcasting to one device.Although this technology is already used in today’s routers. However, it allows routers to communicate with only four devices at a time but with Wi-Fi 6 it increases up to eight.
In addition to MU-MIMO , OFDMA, which stands for “Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access,” can transmits data to multiple devices in single transmission. And also in Wi-Fi 6 devices have become intelligent to plan optimal communications between devices in the network.Using that Wi-Fi antennas can only turn on if they are necessary. Its may significantly reduce the battery usage mean better efficiency in smartphones, wearable devices and laptops. These key technologies acts major roles to carry Wi-Fi signal from a router to your device more efficiency.s
However Wi-Fi 6 is truly ready to go, but very few devices including latest iPhone 11 are supported for Wifi 6 at the moment.Although other tech companies will soon be able to advertise their products as certified to properly support Wi-Fi 6.
